Urban combat more important to me

chronicles SG

In an invasion the only forests we will be fighting on is macritchie nature reserve, i wont deny jungle fighting is an important aspect as well but most of our land is urbanised and will continue to be more urbanised in the future to come.

Btw, does the 1st urban combat company or something and infantry unit?

CKtalon SG

You are wrong to think we will be fighting at Macritchie..
SAF's plan is to fight on enemy ground not homeground..We would be screwed if we reach the stage that we need to fight on our land.. Rolling Eyes
Only 1 Bn is focused on urban warfare..Can't remember which SIR though..

NathanG5 SG

In the next 10 – 15 years, more than half of the SAF’s potential theatres of operation in a war would be urban terrain. Very soon all soldiers will receive basic urban ops training.

Depending on the unit – most combat units are already trained in FIBUA as well as FOFO, to various degrees. 3 SIR specialises in FIBUA and each intake will result in more batches being placed in the different brigades and divisions.

If you haven't noticed, the 'jungles' on Tekong consist of a lot of neat rows of oil palms. Reminds you of any country?

In the event of war, SAF will advance northwards, not hold base in SG.
