25 division?

is it true that besides 3, 6 n 9 division there is a 25 division as well?

According to wikipedia, there is a 25 Div. It's supposedly a Reserve Mechanised Infantry division.

yes there is a div25 n chief armour officier normally helds 25div commander as well

I thought the elusive 32 DIV was the armoured division, while 25 DIV was in charge of PDF? Confused

Nope.25th is Armored.32nd was rumoured to be a expeditionary division, something like RDF.

In the first place, is there a reason as to why the divisions are named as such?

For the combined arms divisions, for instance, why are they named 3Div, 6Div and 9Div instead of just 1Div, 2 Div and 3Div?

Sounds like a dumb question.... but just curious.

There was some history behind this..to do with the zonal command nomenclature before our Army became a CAD Army.

Things must hv changed. I was attached "on and off" to 25 div during reservist in the mid 90s. It certainly was not an armored formation then. I also know one of the ex- div commanders personally outside of the SAF ... and he ain't an armour officer. 25 div at that time had armoured assets, but it also had a lot of other resources.
