tchiew SG No sure about now, during my time (mid 90s) there were many (at least 15) non swimmers in my cohort, me included ). Most of us came out as pretty good swimmers, few remained as "sinkers".
Altis84 SG Well wonder are those replies coming from old generation army well okie to pass the swimming test in bmt... 50m breaststroke aka frog style is needed only. However a standard lap lah meaning ur breaststroke is proper.... one breath one stroke... not 2 breath 1 stroke...freestyle mix breast stroke etc etc all cannot. Well if cannot pass den have to attend swimming lesson loh in swimming trunks... if u cant swim.. well how can they throw u all in water with army fatigue haha. Drown sia... When u pass their swimming test.. there is no reason they will stop u from going ocs. However in ocs... i think u need to swim again but this time more laps....
CKtalon SG Nah..people who can't pass their swimming in BMT can still go to OCS.. Anyway in OCS, for any water activities with combat load, they wear life vests...TSR TSR
