In the past, ATEC only conduct evaluation for the missions, i.e.
attack, advance, delay and defence.
SAF realise that it is important to check on individual proficiency
and as such introduce a separate evaluation.
ATEC 1 is conducted in the camp testing the soldiers' individual
proficiencies such as technical handling and crew drills. They seek
assistance from the respective formation's trainers to evaluate
while the ATEC conducting umpire will supervise the execuation
during the test. Any breaching of TSR will get a fail immediately.
Theory and computerise tests are also conducted to test on the
commanders knowledge and tactics.
ATEC 2 remains what that are conducted in the past. ATEC is now
commanded by COL Tan Kah Thiam, an Armour officer. The chief umpire
is a lao-jiao commando LTC.
