am i allowed to reject a promotion?

nismoS132 SG

for some reason, there's a cockup somewhere and i've been listed as an O levels holder, thus promoted to an LCP instead of CPL.

and since i'm now longer an educated soldier, i only have to serve 2 years while all the other brilliant people serve 2yrs+.

assuming 2 years down the road they uncock up and give me a double promo to 3sg, can i reject it?

thoreldan SG

what’s your vocation?

Gordonator SG

LOL! what makes u think they will promote u to sergeant? Laughing

mdfjami SG

.... service length is not tied to rank.

and, now is all 2 years mah..

i think you only can reject a promotion if you are signing short term contract as a regular.

and like what gordonator said, what makes you think they're gonna make you 3sg lol

Patrik SG

CPL loh...

armorer.

i'm not in the 2yr batch.

cat_god SG

3SG, you think can get just by local promotion, etc?

Gordonator SG

if u are a A levels or diploma holder, u will definately get your CPL, u cannot reject it. there's is no way u can escape. don't think that after serving for 2 years and is about to ORD as a PTE/LCP that they will forget about u. CPC will on the dot promote u and u lan lan has to serve 6/4/2 months more as a CPL. (this happen before)

but let say that u are already in a unit, and somehow your superiors recommend u to go SISPEC/OCS or decided to give u a local rank up to CPL/3SG, maybe that u can reject.

talking about promotion, all the specs at SOCE STW are all promoted locally from 3SG to 2SG. this one they all got no chance to reject. Laughing

His vocation is a 3SG estab if he's a diploma or an 'A' level holder.
Armt Spec Tech II.

LazerLordz SG

Depending on vocation.Anyway, he'll get his 3SG.I had a friend in the same situation.Mistakenly promoted to LCP , then 3SG. Very Happy

i checked with CPC and they had me listed as an O levels holder. which is weird, considering they listed me as a diploma holder during BMT.

chief clerk submited my diploma declaration for me and told me to wait a week, should get my CPL by then. but it's been a month.

i don't really care whether or not i serve the extra 2 months, either way i still have more than half a year's time to work before my school semester starts. what i don't want is to be 'upgraded' all of a sudden just when i'm getting all cushiony as a LCP. surprises are irritating.

nismoS132 SG

any back pay?

only reason i really want the 3sg rank is the pay(as well as the income from all the heaps of people who don't wanna do their COS duties). it's only 2 months difference, but i'd be short changed $3k if i were to remain as LCP.

LazerLordz SG

If it's an honest mistake, no back- pay.Sorry , but in cock-ups, such things happen.Better to get 3SG than be stuck for 2 more months as a CPL instead.

YI SG

face it. these things do happen. and when it's their 'honest mistake' in paying you extra.. you can be sure that they will be calling the next day chasing you to pay up. Cool

nismoS132 SG

there're guy's in my unit receiving 3sg pay but they're only cpl. no, their promotion has not been announced yet.

infact, know of quite a few guys who all got extra pays here and there. none ever got hounded for the money.

of course there're also the cock ups where cpls are recieving pte pay. but those are guaranteed back pays.

LazerLordz SG

Sometimes, your promotion is not announced in the BROs,Extra pay is due to them having been promoted in the system but not announced in the BRO, hence they have not worn the rank.
