Actually, all of this was in the newspapers as well. A number of
us was on standby, armoured reservist units recalled, commandos
doing battalion parachute drop at tuas, etc. All reported in the
papers at that time.
Even before this, in the mid 80s', when the catholic pope and the
Israeli president visited Singapore, there were large protests, and
calls for war from some sectors of Malaysia, the SAF was on
standby.
