wuming78 SG the idea of synchronised breathing is to make your breathing rhythmic, and follow your steps. so you should be comfortable with the breathing rather than forcing yourself into a certain rhythm. for starters, you may need to breathe quite frequently even though you have only run a short distance. but as you build up your fitness and endurance, you would be able to sustain longer distances with infrequent breaths, all the time still maintaining synchronisation between your breaths and your steps. you would also need to get shoes that are fitting and comfortable, and socks to go with it. and intersperse your 2.4 runs with longer distance endurance runs, and vary your routes and times and durations to make it more interesting. sometimes you may even wish to add some challenge by adding weights to your legs or, as i have seen people do from time to time, carry a backpack while running. njoy!
nightzip SG maybe try this next time: your running will be left, right, left, right leg rite? naturally. so u try breathing Left, right, left (breathe in), then Right, left, Right, (breathe out).... been using this to keep below 10min during my NSF times.
deathscythe99 SG The only possible things for him to train for SOC is parallel bars, monkey bars, balancing beam (albeit shorter....WAY short) and occassionally, the window and rope. My school used to have those monkey bars which are the SOC typed ones, and also had the window too.
nightzip SG doing alone can be dangerous, esp. the rope and monkey bars... that why alot of jcs and sec schools now dun put these anymore...
one-niner SG Maybe just train how to get across the parellel bars and swining on the monkey bars will be sufficient. I don't really see low rope obstacles in playground now adays..besides low rope is more of a technique than brute strenght, just jump up, loop up the rope and curl your body up.. I did train up my running prior to NS as i went to the gym too much and my mass was too much.haha..i initially ran my 2.4 in 18 mins slowly cut down to 11 min...1 rountine i did was after the run usually a 2.4 run to end of track, followed by a light run back..i always went to the excericse station to do chinups, situps and pushups. This might be very exhuasting, but i realised it helped me build up my endurance in strenght and grit.especially the chinups..ifu could manage 10 chinups after the run, you will find yourself piulling 16 chinups fresh.
deathscythe99 SG I'd agree with that. Doing the situps, push ups and chin ups after a run (maybe 2km plus?) would mean you are able to do more when you are fresh
Rockhound SG dunno leh...i always can do more after running...cos body all warmed up and muscles are loose...
