different number of stripes is diff trimesters i think...or something like that.....some guy used to explain to me that every 3 months get 1 white stripe or something like that...

white colour singapura is Navy rite?

Anyway to clarify, a cadet earns his white bars as he progresses thru the course, starting with 1 white bar (and a white lanyard) the first day he steps into OCS...

1 white bar = Tri-service term
2 white bars = Service terms 1 and 2
3 white bars = Professional term

... till he receives his black bar at his commissioning (actually before, haha).

As for white colour singapura, its for all OCTs, not just for navy midshipmen.

if a 1 or 2 white bar OCT OOC and is not given a recourse, will he be “promoted” to a PTE?

Well actually they are already PTE (since they have already passed BMT) by the time they enter OCS.

So if a cadet OOCs in tri-service term (1 white bar) or service term 1 (2 white bars), he reverts to his original rank of PTE.

However, if he OOCs in service term 2 (still 2 white bars), he becomes a CPL.

thanks for enlightening me. sometimes i see 1 and 2 bar cadets outside when i go to camp so was wondering whether they are OOCed and posted to other units but still wearing their cadet rank.

As for the question of OOC cadets..Hmm, used to have a PT cadet from school last time..V sad esp when others gog for CPR, he temp. attached to some office to do admin for the time being...He was later posted out as 3SG...

The odds are that the guy u saw was an ncc boy, unless his epaulette has 3 white bars, then he's an OCT doing his professional term in one of the support arms.

Oh....Almost forgot that....

Anyway, the most obvious thing is whether the wording is in White or Black thread..Most prob for NCC, u'd be able to see only one/two white bar...(The NCC word is in Black)

the CLT rank is rather different from any SAF rank.

anyway cadets in OCS would not book out in smart 4. cant say the same for those who are in other schools for non-infantry vocations.

Well, cos these are the epaulettes for no. 3... I believe the ones meant to be worn with no. 4 have black NCC lettering.
