don't need a passport, but bring along just in case. need 11b definately and a dog tag.

Well I still remember during my time that was 2002, we have a joint execrise wif the Thai army..We do not need any passports just bring a 11B will do & of cos your air-ticket! Mr. Green

For airforce personnel, i believe MSD (or sum other MINDEF branch) will handle their documents and issue them flight clearance. So, no, i dun think they bring along passport.

Take Civilian airplane does not mean that the soldiers need passports. The airplance is charterd by the SAF and as such, there are only soldiers on board. Therefore, we have the option of disembarking elsewhere other than at the customs.

We're treated kinda like goods actually.

All travel document will be done by one of the G branch.

No passport is needed unless it is a last minute addition.

The SQ flight are chartered. I remember that the sterward and stewardess had to stay for the night in Rockhampton, Australia as the next morning their plane was from Brisbane to Singapore.

I believe they travel "by nominal roll", since I saw none of the troops carrying civilian bags during the news clip.

Traditionally, it's the same for the main body of units who go for Ex Lancer or Starlight or Crescendo. The commuting process, by my experience, could be quite rigid: consolidation of Ali Baba bags, form up inside camp, load up into 3-tonner's or buses, & then drive to the embarking area.

At Changi Airport, it was via Loyang & through a back gate for me - which meant that, on the return trip, the SAF had their MPs setting up tables along the road at 3am to check for contraband! (Subjected to guard dogs sniffing for illegal stuff too.)

Negative now the troops from overseas go through the front gate.

No more pasar malam near the Changi airport back gate with the post office.

From my experience going to Thailand for Exercise last year, passports were not required for the majority. Boarding passes/tickets were issued at the airport itself.

Flight to and from Singapore was from the main terminal. One piece of hand luggage was allowed.
