I'm not racist, but when you say that, you're talking about
virtually 1/3 of the warrants in SISPEC.
Well, anyways, I remember the first time I (we) met him. We were
sure we were gonna suffer jia lat jia lat under him for the next
three months. He had this damn fierce/strict look and he even
threatened to confine one trainee on our first book out day just
because he didn't answer together with the rest of the company when
he was talking to us. So you can imagine the first impression we
had of him.
But soon the weeks went by and I started to get to know him better.
Espcially being an OOC, you're privy to alot more of the relaxed
side of the instructors and warrants when they're not with the
trainees. Really saw a drastically different side of my 2IC.
Extremely big-hearted and genuinely concerned about trainees
well-being. Damn hilarious guy also (always likes to call people
the Tamil word for b*lls). He just has this aura that makes him
very likable and approachable. Not to mentioned respected. Very,
very respected by all the instructors and trainees. Very capable
and meticulous planner and leader as well. And he's humble too.
Really a leader's leader sort of guy. Man, am I fawning over the
guy or what!? But seriously, you gotta know the man a little better
to reach this conclusion about him. Cos' like I said, my first
impression of the guy was that he was a tekan king. In retrospect
though, I think it's kinda like SOP that the first couple of weeks,
the warrants and instructors will be extra siong so as to keep the
trainees on their toes and in the proper frame of mind to go
through the though training (especially after block leave!).
Sorry for the longish un-paragraphed post. As you probably can
tell, it's really one long gushing testimonial for a guy I really
admire.
