chunyong SG

they are 'against' SAF's ideas but legally one.

Cepat SG

It's a cult group...they publish a magazine called The WatchTower...
MJ is from there...

Ponders SG

Jehovah Witnesses (JW) is a christian denomination that practices conscience objections. .. what ever that means....

basically they believe they cannot pledge allegiance to flag and country. they are peace loving, and do not believe in carrying weapons.

In the SAF context.... a special arrangement is made for them to serve their NS liability.

Duty Battalion. If you can go DB fo your faith, I think it must be pretty strong.Gotta admit most here, including me, might not have the guts to suffer for whatever we believe in to this extent.

SerialBox SG

then what happens to this "Jehova Witness" people when
they are doing NS ?

CenturionMBT SG

they go to a nice place where they have a free hair cut, a nice souvinier grey t shirt and black shorts. Plenty of good food, 3 square meals and good exercise. Free weight loss programme, free body toning programme. You get your own personal suite with a nice toilet and a nice bed. And whats more, you get famous when you get out. every employers in singapore will instantly recognise you.

So what are you waiting for? Join the DB and you get to enjoy all those stated above and more.

Btw those ppl who go db for jehova wittness how long must stay in db?

nismoS132 SG

my warden fren told me the JWs inside are either cleaners or barbers. they stay inside for 2 years straight, no nights out, no weekends off.

basically its like going to jail for 2 years straight.

i don't remember about parent visits, or whether they get NS allowances.

Patrik SG

I remember there is a parent visit every week for them…

NeonTetra SG

they cannot be considered as a Christian denomination as their doctrines are deviated from the mainstream biblical teachings.

Ponders SG

Their DB is 3 years. What happens on enlistment is they are ordered to wear No. 4 3 times. If they refused then they are formally charged and DB 3 years.

They are then considered to have served their NS. And their reservist is 40days DB annually for 13 years.

kwlee SG

omg reservice in the db.... Neutral

LazerLordz SG

I mean, you could be a JW, wear the uniform and carry on with normal NS while keeping faith inside your heart.Take each day as it comes along right?

SibeiSuayKia SG

Life is like this.

Everyone wish they wouldn't have to carry weapons...

But hey, its either you or him..

wuming78 SG

well.. there are staunch believers in any faith, or believe in conforming to the dot, meaning both the form and the substance. we cannot blame them for that. but for the case of these special group of persons, they just have to live with the consequences...

SerialBox SG
