6 weeks PTP + 10 weeks BMT ----- Failed napha

16 weeks obese BMT ----- Obese

SIT test ---- at least an 'A' level or Diploma....doesn't matter you in which BMT.

SIT Test is in which week of BMT?

gigabite SG

SIT Test is usually conducted after field camp.. the latter of which is in the the 7th week if u’re direct enhanced batch and 12th week if u’re the PTP/BMT batch.

delonchew SG

SIT Test stands for SITuational Test. You and your section will be put through a series of situations where the leader has to lead his men through the situation.

Yup, combat-fit diploma and A level holders go to Enhanced BMT, regardless of what they got for NAPFA.

A Level/Diploma:
NAPFA Silver/Gold = 10wk Enhanced BMT
NAPFA Bronze/Fail/Never take = 6week PTP + 10wk Enhanced BMT

Others:
NAPFA Silver/Gold = 8wk Standard BMT
NAPFA Bronze/Fail/Never take = 6week PTP + 8wk Standard BMT

The Enhanced BMT has additional modules to train and select the recruits for commander positions (SISPEC/OCS), otherwise same as Standard BMT.

Can check out mindef website: http://www.mindef.gov.sg/arc/army101/army101_3100.html

Anyway this system has been in place at least for the past 4 yrs liao (when i got enlisted).

I don't think you need diploma/A-levels to go SISPEC? (Not sure abt this, maybe the SISPEC pple can clarify?) So O-level holders still stand a chance to crossover to OCS if they excel in their training.

Hope this'll help clarify the various queries..

Damn SIT test sounds intimidating...thinking under extreme pressure isn't exactly my strong point...argh. I hope i can get through well when that time comes. Confused

sidestep1984 SG

the way i see it...the only thing intimidating about SIT test is that i dont noe much abt it..anxiety i guess
i dont think there is much "extreme pressure" compared to after BMT when you are posted to unit or command level schools like OCS and SISPEC...

as my frens always say...BMT is a Holiday resort compared to elsewhere..

wuming78 SG

the ability to think and work under pressure is an attribute valued by all, not just the military. develop it and it will benefit yourself the most. Wink

i enlisted late 99' leh... that time if you are poly / JC you'll go tekong. then if you napfa silver and above, you go enhanced, otherwise you go PTP.
Everyone got to go SIT test, whether you enhanced or obese or otherwise..
didn't remember got any special lessons during BMT for sispec/ocs selection leh.

cornyfish2000 SG

Ya, i think you were referring to the same system as i wrote above. As long as you have diploma/A levels or equivalant(which includes Laselle-SIA and Informatics qualifications), you go enhanced BMT, whether in the guise of enhanced PTP-BMT, obese or just direct-intake enhanced bmt. So if a recruit goes for SIT test, means he's in enhanced.

Anyway i don't remember undergoing any special lessons during BMT too, but again don't have another guy undergoing standard BMT to compare with. I suppose all the SIT test and platoon i/c assessment stuff are part of this..
