BMT : Unarmed Combat

kopiosatu SG

I'm not sure if this has been discussed... please redirect me to that thread if it has been covered Wink

Anyway, its about unarmed combat during BMT now. What happened to bayonet fighting? I was holding the SAR 21 and I noticed there isn't any latch to hold any bayonet.

Personally, should there be a war, give me a bayonet anytime.

There are two reasons I can think of regarding this change :

1) The whole SAF will be using SAR 21 one day, bayonet cannot be fixed on it... so dump the bayonet fighting.

2) Bayonet fighting too siong? So some kids complain to parents, then the parents write letter to Defense Minister? Laughing (This one is pure crap)

think they have scrapped bayonet fighting from bmt - and put in unarmed combat instead.

kopiosatu SG

yeah they scrapped it, but why?

wuming78 SG

this you will have to ask those who were in the transition period when they changed from one to the other.

perhaps cos there is no bayonet for the sar 21?

kopiosatu SG

that's what i thought too... which i say once again. Should i have no more ammunition... give me a bayonet over my fists anytime

Buttstroke to the head ! PIAK ! Evil or Very Mad

kopiosatu SG

a buttstroke to the kisser will definately cause more damage than a punch

tspg SG

Ok Ok correction PAK ! Laughing

kopiosatu SG

PAK (impact on the face)
THUMP (impact on the floor) Cool

What are my chances I can give a buttstroke using my SAR-21 without cracking its butt before my victim's head? Laughing

kopiosatu SG

hahahaha~ kinda low actually, the rifle is heavier than a m-16!

the thing is, the design of the rifle... kinda thick... i prefer the m-16 when it comes to that kind of fighting

wuming78 SG

sar21 abit the short..butt stroke to the head almost means ur head will kiss the person's head.

octega SG

I think by the time you use SAR21 buttstroke to the head, the enemy has already bayonet into your throat already…

Another thing to note, with the gradual switch to the SAR-21, certain drills also need to be revised. Such as "turong, senja tah.". Must remember the SAR-21 is shorter than the M-16, so ur drills will look kinda funny if it ain't revised. Laughing

kopiosatu SG

revised liao... just sling the rifle over ur shoulder... up n down.

i prefer m-16 anytime... the drills more kilat!

and the stupid sar21, because of the weight, the sling rests on ur shoulder and suddenly you can't feel ur left arm anymore. so u gotta lift it up to get the blood circulating!

Another easy way out for the SAF RSM... just sling your SAR21 swing up, swing down... Neutral

SISPEC Advance Specialists' Training Wing had demostrated to all the RSMs in the Army complete set of Armed Drills with marching on a Platoon Sergeant Course Graduation Parade. The parade turnout well and proven that it is possible but til now it is to no avail... Neutral Neutral Neutral

kopiosatu SG

no avail? waiting for the whole SAF to change rifles?

erijazz SG

Nope, maybe it is too 'leh chey' for that someone to write the new mannual before retirement...

red_tide24 SG

tekong now using SAR21 liao??? no more M16??

ditzy SG

Why give them the easy way out? Learn M-16 first. Laughing
