blowfish SG smoke like nobody business, fight with taxi driver outside camp gate, break the Unit logo(accidentally), scold my encik, go off without permission, play cs in camp, scold my man till he cry , never go for breakfast, play pool in officer mess etc..
Moxie SG 1. Learn to completely think in Hokkien. Never did this prior to enlistment (mission schools all the way), & had to "re-teach" myself at NUS. 2. Learn that some combat officers make better staff officers than combat officers. Vice versa. 3. Learn that some SAF scholars are overrated (mid-'80s batch). See previous point. 4. Learn how to manipulate the system, from piling up NSF off-in-lieus (guard duty on less-important holidays), to a "well-orchestated" NSman Medical Board runaround (only 2 IPPTs in 13-year cycle). 5. Learning that "you're no longer the center of the world" can sometimes be detrimental. My right ankle is still very, very vulnerable to sprains today after I twice twisted it badly during field training (once in Brunei jungle-training) but declined to seek proper medical aid & hold up everybody then. Even now, I can't wear any shoe whose heel is just a bit worn off, not on that foot.
