Do SAF need Four - Star General ( or simply General) ?

Highest rank in the SAf is 3 star General or Lieutanent General

theonion SG

We don’t have the troop numbers to justify a four star general.

guardsmen SG

Dun think so...

just like what theonion had say.. Wink

ibtrdia SG

Cannot 4 star in Singapore. Sway numberlah.

8 star can. Mr. Green

Ponders SG

it is not SAF's numbers or size that we do not have a 4 star general.

It is that in SAF... the 4-star general rank does not exist. our organization is in such a way that we do not need a 4-star general.

there are a few armies in the world that do not have 4-star generals because their command structure and organisation does not require one. And these armies are actually around the same size, if not bigger than SAF's.

Israel is one of them.

Canada, whose army is smaller than singapore's HAS a 4-star general because of their NATO commitments.

and of course, there are also armies that are so small that the highest rank is only a colonel.

when war comes, you’ll see 5 stars

Hmmmz.

Come war, we'll definitely see the war-time promotion of every officer up one grade, i.e. the 4-star general appears (field marshal i think..?)

no_speeding SG

LazerLordz SG

If you survive, and get unknocked unconscious, you will see many stars. If you sadly perish, you will also see lots of stars of ages ago up There.

Origami SG

For blocking the president, u get a crescent moon n five stars draped over u. Mr. Green

snk86 SG

actually, if i not wrong, the max a US General can go is 4star(which i heard, there is alot of 4stars). but during conflicts(or, war) the theater commander or, field marshall will get award a special 5th star pin on by the present president. After the conflict, the star will be remove, and then given a replacement for keepsake that they can never wear.
