Local gals' perceptions of NS

last SG · 2004-06-04T11:29:01+00:00

Some gals become ladies by spending a few K on some pieces of clothing that look no different from those sold at pasar malams.

bismarck SG

precisely..

we get paid somemore...although not much

bismarck SG

there are things we do that others dont appreciate..

ChrisYX SG

Not until they have experienced what we have to do through. Mr. Green

i also dun understand why girls like to remark aganist the 'compensation' for NS men in the public sector when the time was spent serving the nation while others arent
care to account for how girls spend 2.5 years?

Doenitz SG

As an aside,do you guys feel that you got funny stares when you were in No 4 in public places?

wuming78 SG

this is not unique to ns.

there are things alot of people are doing on a day to day basis, that no one else other than those who noes, appreciates.

e.g. construction workers, road sweepers
e.g. social workers, police,
e.g. mothers and fathers.

human nature...

wuming78 SG

no lah... its more the wearer feeling awkward. guys in no.4 are so common in singapore and people are so used to it. o cos they better be properly dressed and not be smelling lah!

bismarck SG

i can attest to that

hmm waht's no4..

going in in year's time

btw i think this topic has been argued to death....
later start flaming again then ho sei liaoz...

Doenitz SG

Welcome to the family!

chikopek SG

to think positively,

we are proud to serve our beloved nations with pride (whether combat, technical, service, police or scdf) while those gals should feel disgrace by didn't serve anything to the country

since we have served our countries, we should be on higher status than gals...... Mr. Green

wuming78 SG

potentially inflammatory material...

i dont agree with "disgrace" and "didnt serve anything" and "higher status". i hope these are just rhetoric and not representative of your true feelings.

browniebaobao SG

Not all girls think this way la...

chikopek SG

very sorry that i wrote that on a 'moment of anger'.......\

however, i hope those gals will appreciate our efforts to make the country safe

some gals are taking s'pore's security for granted as i know.......

And some of them(sad to say including some people whom i call friends), due to their fathers telling them that NS is not "as tough as it was as before", actually demean us guys of recent generations who have served before saying that "aiyah, now serving NS so easy, where go like my father that time ah, so siong...you guys must really be enjoying urselves inside...what makes you people deserve to command the higher starting wage?" Neutral

I wonder if they would say the same if they had to try serving themselves...

Transmission SG

nice topic.. Smile
before i was enlisted, i also cannot visualise whats going on in the army... and sad to say.. i can't be bothered by the whole thing....
after enlisting...its a whole new story... can understand whats going on.. why must we be there ...
