the highest rank for lady specialist is actually SWO. there are
a number of 1WO and 2WO ard. lesser MWO and least SWO. but they do
exist. seen them around quite a bit. they exist in the army and air
force. not too sure about the navy though.
for officers when i 1st enlist in 2001 there were 5 LTC. the last i
heard was that there were around 7-9 LTC. so far no COL yet.
they say no glass ceiling in saf for women but they will not put a
woman as bde cmd or div cmd. reason being that saf is mainly a male
place.
there was a gal in my platoon at bmt and ocs who had best PT, best
knowledge, best cadet for the entire wing of gals and guys,
practically best everything. perform much better than any guy.
really put the guys to shame. got 4A and 2 s paper distinction.
should qualify for SAFOS. but given SMS (W) instead. reason given
by the upper ppl kthat they just not prepare to give her despite
her proving that she was more capable then others. fed up with
fighting the system, she decided to take PSC OMS instead. left the
force and is now at cambridge.
