firered SG i know rp is regimental police, and mp is military police, but whats the diff? i went to mindef and saw both rp n mp doing guard duty, but the mp's armband looks more evil n sinister, black one whats the diff, what do they do?
Taufiq SG To my knowledge (for further enquiries, consult NathanG5) RP is normally at the guardroom, checking passes for illegal entry and exit ala security guards. MP meanwhile do further routine checks around the island to camps or uniformed personnel if they violate the SAF codes of conduct. RPs wear RP armband in smart 4 uniform. MPs wear their own set of old skool uniform
larrenV2.003 SG RP is the very common one u see everyday.... Their job is to guard mainly at the frontgate & inspect bags check uniform for uniform personnel & guide ppl to varous department in camp. MP job is to arrest personnel who AWOL(Absent Without Official Leave) or any chargable offences that SAF personnel make. MP also comes under Provost.....
NathanG5 SG simple..RP sphere of responsibility is only in base or camp.. MP is island wide... but i think for MINDEF case is different..both RP n MP holding the same responsibility..but the RP will be strictly in the guardhouse changing pass..while the MP outside standing guard n look more garang(or vice versus)..n MP in MINDEF have GOH duty also...their sphere of power include outside of MINDEF...
wuming78 SG so in short an RP only has power when hes in a camp – the camp he is an RP of, whereas an MP has power anywhere and everywhere!
NathanG5 SG not everywhere actually...they have power only in SAF camps n bases.. those in military uniform(does not include NCC)..are under their jurisdiction also..
firered SG ohhhhh so MP more better lah? some of my frens posted to MP after bmt...think they're much more in power den us! anybody saw that face stain in kranji camp's court martial's 2nd floor's 2nd window frm the left anyway? heard that its unremovable cuz once they tried to remove it but it came back or something.....eerie
trafox10 SG actually not only military personnel....any civilian who disrupts any military ops and causes trouble can be arrested too, which is seldom the case...it's stated in chapter 295 of the military law.
wuming78 SG oh yah.. but we never see ppl who anyhow wear no. 4 outside as though its a fashion statement being arrested.
jacobs SG Hmm… wuming, seldom see you at this hour. This forum activity rate isn’t as high as before. worrying?
