BrUtUs SG yes u hv to stay behind until the duty finish.. (if u got duty on sat, u will b released on sun) for duties, theres no extra day off...
wuming78 SG actualli for question 2 "what we do inside", it depends. for the combat fit ppl, after BMT there r several possible routes - more advanced schools, posted to units, etc so wat u do depends on where u go.
wuming78 SG oh, wat brutus mentioned, basic military training. sort of like intro to military life, lasts abt 3 mths from the day u enlist.
wuming78 SG no.. sign on means becoming a soldier as a profession - by choice. whereas serving national service is involuntary, and is an obligation all male citizens haf to discharge.
jacobs SG Police and civil defence are both national service too. For my friend who went to police, he have to serve 2 and half yrs. SCDF i think is two yrs. For both you can book out on the first weekend i think.
