There was a really obnoxious guy in my company called Suresh
whom nobody liked. We were getting ready for a jump and rigged up
at the pick-up point at PLAB. At the back of each parachute is a a
cord covered by a velcro flap, and somebody besides the wearer
needs to check the knot on the cord. Suresh turned to me and I
lifted the flap and said "Hmm". I called my buddy over, winked at
him and said, "Have you ever seen it donw like this?" and he said
"Nope". I patted Suresh on the shoulder and said, "Well, best of
luck".
Once we were on the plane, Suresh was paler than a sheet and he
hesitated at the door. The jumpmaster, who didn't like Suresh
either, booted him out of the plane. For the rest of the day,
Suresh literally walked around with a boot mark on his arse.
Of course, there was never anything wrong with the knot.
