Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean, who is in Australia from
November 12 to 13, visited Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) troops at
the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA) in Queensland.
Rear Admiral Teo observed a live-firing exercise conducted by an
armour unit.
He also interacted with the SAF commanders and troops involved in
the annual exercise codenamed Exercise Wallaby, which is being
conducted from October 14 to November 27.
A total of about 3,800 troops and some 150 armoured vehicles are
deployed for this year's Exercise Wallaby.
Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs), C-130 transport aircraft and Super
Puma helicopters of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) are
also supporting the exercise.
MINDEF says Singapore appreciates the extensive training
opportunities that Australia provides the SAF.
These allow the SAF to enhance its operational readiness by
training in challenging and realistic conditions. - CNA
