Houllier reveals players still loyal to him over Benitez

Gerard Houllier has sensationally revealed the loyalty his former Liverpool players still show him.

After winning six trophies he felt he was building a legacy on Merseyside — one, he believes, has been destroyed by Rafael Benitez.

“After Rafa Benitez left this summer, one of the players sent me a message,” Houllier told the London Evening Standard. “He said, Boss, he hasn't beaten you.'”

The former Reds manager also recalled a moment after Benitez's greatest night as Liverpool manager.

Houllier takes up the story. “When I came into the changing room in Istanbul some of the players said: Boss it's your team.'

“Twelve out of 14 in Istanbul were players I had signed or developed. I left Liverpool with a team and in the Champions League. But when you finish seventh with Torres and Gerrard . . .”

Ah Hou was half right about his statement.

The players from Ah Hou era played well as they know this is their last game for Liverpool and they were fighting for their last piece of silver ware.

Ah Hou have also over reliance on Owen and Fowler.

But, he built a much more solid team with Murphy and Riise, which was eventually dismantled by Ah Ben.

Although Ah Ben have brought along a few good player in this times, he was not able to make good use of them or retain them when they become ya ya.

The ego issue of Ah Ben was getting better of him.
