You still missed out on the crux of this whole topic..Ok, let's say
ALL singaporeans change their petrol-powered cars to fully-electric
cars..Does it mean MORE electricity needs to be generated for
people to charge their cars? And by generating MORE electricity,
does it mean MORE FUEL needs to be burnt? And I hope you
know Singapore ONLY relies on CNG to generate electricity..and by
burning MORE CNG, does it produces MORE harmful gases and carbon
dioxide? So at the end of the whole freakin' day, is it
LPPL?
And who says no supercar manufacturers are gearing towards cleaner
vehicles? Ferrari is aiming to cut down on their cars' CO2
emissions by either producing hybrids or add some features to make
their cars produce less carbon dioxide, just like BMW's 'Efficient
Dynamics' which includes regenerative braking system to charge the
battery, and start/stop system for the engine, etc..
In fact, nearly EVERY car marque in this world is trying to be as
clean and green as possible by making their cars produce less
carbon dioxide.. A lot of modern diesel cars are so clean now..and
their mileage so much better..but SG govt. wanna earn more tax and
don't import diesel cars..
Tesla is indeed a high-performance electric sports car, but do you
know how freakin' expensive is it? And it's range so-so only..what
people care most about electric cars is its range on one full
charge..
No matter what people say, full-electric cars are at least still 5
to 10 years, or even longer, away from being common on the
roads..and so for now, we are stuck with petrol..
And you are such a WEIRD person..you said so much you just want
Singaporeans to have cleaner air to breathe isn't it? But you still
say there's no choice for some people to stay near the powerplant
and breathe dirtier air? Aren't you contradicting
yourself? You want everyone to have clean air, but you say
some people LAN LAN have to breathe the dirtier air near the
powerplant? Why not YOU go stay near the powerplant instead? Then I
see whether you want so many electric cars or not..
You and reddressman like to think until so far, why not think of
ways to remove carbon dioxide from the Earth's atmosphere? Why not
suck up all the carbon dioxide in our atmosphere and use spacecraft
to send it to space?
So please be more practical..There is still no infrastructure in
Singapore to support electric cars (or even CNG cars properly), so
we have no choice but to stick with petrol- and CNG-powered cars
for now..so what for start talking about electric cars so early
now? No point! Talk about hybrids will be even more
practical..because hybrids is the closest thing we have to a
full-electric car..[/b]

if sg use only CNG, then best...cos it is a cleaner fuel.
can we live in a perfect world? of course some ppl will stay nearer
to the power plant what... some more in land scare sg. corrrect or
not.???
My point is: it is not LPPL if sg car is fully electric. heard of
renewable energy? once it is more commercialise, then the dependent
on fossil fuel will lessen. it is a good future for the environment
dun you think?
