Liverpool travel to Wolves this week aiming to build on that
superb win over Tottenham last Wednesday. Rafa Benitez’ team may
not be playing the most scintillating football in the world but
they are picking up results which have catapulted them back into
the race for 4th place. The fact that Liverpool have picked up 4
points in the last two league games without both Fernando Torres
and Steven Gerrard will do wonders for the rest of the team’s
confidence for the trip to Molineux .
Wolves’ confidence won’t be high following three successive
defeats without scoring a goal which includes a 2-0 defeat at
Anfield. The lack of goals will be worrying Mick McCarthy who has a
number of strikers in his squad but only one in the shape of Kevin
Doyle who has scored more than a single league goal.
Wolves are the lowest scorers in the Premier League with just 17
goals and have failed to score in four of their last five league
games. A lack of goals puts added pressure on a defence to maintain
a clean-sheet which is something Wolves have only managed two times
in 19 league games.
For those of you who are debating whether to back the draw in
this one, it’s worth noting that Wolves haven’t drawn any of their
last 10 league matches. Liverpool have drawn two of their last four
away league matches but with the confidence gained and momentum now
building in the right direction, Benitez will surely be aiming for
all 3 points.
