Daniel Agger is to undergo an operation on his troublesome back
that will rule the Liverpool defender out for another two
months.
Having failed to appear during pre-season, Agger has missed both
of Liverpool’s opening league games due to the injury. According to
The Daily Mail, Agger has now been booked in for surgery and will
have an operation in France on Tuesday.
‘The Liverpool centre-back has pencilled in Denmark’s World Cup
qualifiers with Sweden and Hungary in the middle of October for his
comeback,’ the newspaper reports.
While the news represents a setback for Rafa Benitez, the
Liverpool boss is expected to add defensive cover to his squad over
the weekend in the form of AEK Athens
defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos. It is also thought likely that Martin
Skrtel, absent for the midweek victory over Stoke with a hairline
fracture of the jaw, could be available for Monday’s clash with
Aston Villa
