reina is definitely not up there with bruce grobbelaar yet. bruce was really good and help liverpool won many titles. Not counting the seasons where bruce was older. Bruce wins hands down.

Ian rush has played more seasons and scored more goals. Torres is good but he is only here for 2 seasons. It remains to be seen whether torres can maintain his form, fitness and stay injury free. Ian rush wins.

John barnes is obviously better than alonso. Alonso showed a lot of promises but seldom deliver. John barnes would beat mascherano too. In terms of statistics, john barnes have done better.

Steven gerrard is better than mahon... Without him, liverpool may not be able to win the champions league in 2005. Champions of the world for 1 year. Not many clubs get to enjoy that.

Has to be Alan Hansen .

He;s always cool under pressure , he's Scottish , he's commanding , he's always in control .

He is an example of a true professional , needs no tough tackling , needs no be dirty .. just good vision can prevent goals !

I saw a similiarity in Hyypia & Hansen .

Alan Hansen is England's first sweeper . Liverpool adopted this sweeper system and rock the league back in the early 80's .

Sweeper as in 5 defenders .... 3 centre-halves . When Grobbelaar rools the ball to Hansen , Mark Lawrenson or Gary Gillespie will stay back , he will slowly bring the ball up into midfield and starts the attacking from midfield .

And when defending , Alan Hansen will pull slightly back into that last man's position .

Opponents must go past Lawrenson , and u need to get past Hansen , then Grobbelaar to score goals .
