Champion's Lge last 16 : Real Madrid vs Liverpool

Poolman SG

First Leg @ the 80,400 capacity Bernabeu , Madrid .

Date on the 25th February , Thursday morning Sgp time 3.45am .

Surely got LIVE on ESPN !!!!

Good luck Liverpool !!!

Poolman SG

The Spanish giants are hitting form under new boss and former Spurs manager Juande Ramos. They thrashed Real Betis 6-1 at the Bernabeu on Saturday night

Poolman SG

Liverpool will be hoping captain Steven Gerrard is available after injury, he returned to training last week but wasn’t fit in time for the disappointing 1-1 home draw with Man City which leaves Liverpool seven points behind Man United.

The Showstopper SG

pool will draw 0-0 or lose 1-0 at Bernabeu and once Gerrard is back at Anfield they'll knick it 1-0 or 2-1..standard boring predictable pool..

Poolman SG

Liverpool will defend like nobody business .

Plan A , no Plan B or Plan C ..... if cannot beat them , hold them . 1-1 or more is the best .

Poolman SG

After seeing line-up against Man City .. i think Carragher and Skrtel is the more likely partners , ahead of Agger .

Left back definitely will be Fabio Aurelio . Dossena is a part-timer for Liverpool FC , any games .

Right back must be Arbeloa , he will man-mark Arjen Robben if needed .

As 4 midfield .... Alonso will be the AnchorMan for LFC . Mascherano will deploy as the man infront of the back-four .

Another spanish will be play - Reira .

Torres no need to say ....

I hope to see Babel on the right .

Kuyt and Torres upfront .

www SG

i believe the reds will come out good this time round, opposed to what is NOT expected of them.

more than often, they perform well after a fark up result.

Poolman SG

We are lucky to avoid Barcelona , who is playing the best brand of spanish football for a long time .

Real ... without a Chief scoring sensation , in the mode of RVN , is struggling with goals .

Hunteelaar ? No really a threat to Liverpool by any distance .

www SG

really hate the sigh of real madrid players fall down on any slightest tackle.

good to see benayoun getting onto the scoresheet as he is the only decent player in the liverpool squad lately.

did ramos say he want at least 3 goals advantage?

www SG

a fine result to take back to anfield.

as long as the reds are just as disciplined as they are today, they will ease thru to the next round. tho liverpool are favourite to fark things up when they are not underdogs.

i was sweating at lucas's entrance in the final minutes. fortunately, he made a few good tackles instead.

X-men SG

Rafa should use more of Benayoun and less of Lucas. Like WWW, my eyes open wide when I saw Lucas go onto the field... my thoughts... last min penalty given away by him!

Lucas looks like a headless chicken from the back.. take a look next time... he does looks like headless chicken.

Poolman SG

Defensively ... Liverpool were as solid as Great Wall Of China , attacking wise ... Liverpool were inferior .Casillas were no bothered at all , except for that goal .

As i have mentioned in the earlier post , Real don't have a " Killer " for the UCL .

They shown it infront of goal .

One Raul Gonzales cannot do any magic , Raul is not Zidane !

Poolman SG

Actually Rafa deploy a defensively set-up and option for a draw instead of a win .

By dumping balls after balls when we get possessions into opponent's half , obviousl .

I foresee Liverpool into the last 8 !!!

stellazio SG

rafa understands the spanish game of free flowing football too well. by limiting them time and space they cant play their game.

even barca will have problems against liverpool.

Poolman SG

Yeah true , break their rhythm , smooth passing game .

Real also one kind , all told to be jelly-legs ......any minor contact , they really yelled for a foul .

But our Defensively Four at the back really impressed me , especially Arbeloa and Aurelio , quite consistent their performance , namely Arbeloa , seldom made mistake .
