Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is demanding more from his midfield ace
Xabi Alonso.
Asked if he thought the Spaniard was now back to his best, Benitez
told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I don't think so. I think he is playing
better but he can play much better.
"A lot better because he is a player with quality and we have seen
that. He's not fully fit yet so he can improve."
Benitez also thanked skipper Steven Gerrard for hitting back at
critics who have questioned why he is played on the wing.
"Yeah, I think it's good to hear important players and Steven, as
the captain, telling people who maybe don't know how we train and
our ideas. It's important to tell the people we are doing things
for the team and what he said is good for the team and me as a
manager. The only thing I can say to Steve is thank
you."
