I don't see how you can say that England performed inconsistently in the Paraguay match. As far as I can see, they were brilliantly disciplined and played according to plan.

I don't play football but I used to play rugby and was a school rugby coach for a couple of years. As England's coach; I would have congratulated my boys for being so disciplined.

If you can congralutate them for their discipline and their inept performance in the 2nd half, you can bid goodbye to the World Cup. I bet you wouldnt be saying the same thing if Paraguay have taken their chances.
