Cup finalists?

Interestingly the UEFA cup finalists are from England (Middlesborough) and Spain (Sevilla), and so are the finalists of the CL final (Barcelona vs Arsenal)!

Who knows, maybe the World Cup final will be England vs Spain?

Might be a possibility. It's been well known that everytime the World Cup Finals are staged in a European Country, the South American teams including Brazil don't perform well.

Here's a list of the finalists and winners in each World Cup

1930 Uruguay Hosts : Uruguay 4 - Argentina 2
1934 Italy Hosts : Italy 2 - Czechoslovakia 1
1938 France Hosts : Italy 4 - Hungary 2
1950 Brazil Hosts : Uruguay winner (this world cup was not a knockout format)
1954 Switzerland Hosts : West Germany 3 - Hungary 2
1958 Sweden Hosts : Brazil 5 - Sweden 2
1962 Chile Hosts : Brazil 3 - Czechoslovakia 1
1966 England Hosts : England 4 - West Germany 2 (after extra time)
1970 Mexico Hosts : Brazil 4 - Italy 1
1974 West Germany Hosts : West Germany 2 - Holland 1
1978 Argentina Hosts : Argentina 3 - Holland 1
1982 Spain Hosts : Italy 3 - West Germany 1
1986 Mexico Hosts : Argentina 3 - West Germany 2
1990 Italy Hosts : West Germany 1 - Argentina 0
1994 USA Hosts : Brazil 3 - Italy 2 (on penalties after 0-0 extra time)
1998 France Hosts : France 3 - Brazil 0
2002 South Korea and Japan Hosts : Brazil 2 - Germany 0

Very good observation!

If it is indeed a Spain vs England Final, then all I can say is good for LFC. Laughing

but isn't there the possibility that if they progress, they might meet each other in the earlier rounds? Laughing

Ok I've checked this already.

England are in group B and Spain are in Group H.

There is no chance whatsoever that they will meet each other until the FINAL! That is if they get that far lah!

Who knows?!!!!

Check out the schedule here. WB = Winner Group B, RB = Runner up Group B, WH = Winner group H, RH = Runner up Group H
