Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez says they can close the gap on Chelsea
without breaking the bank.
"I'm convinced it's possible to close the gap on Chelsea by being
smarter," Benitez said. "It was the same in Spain with
Valencia.
"It was impossible to compete financially with Real Madrid and
Barca (Barcelona), but we won two leagues and a Uefa Cup. It is the
same here at Anfield.
"It is only my second season, but we are getting closer.
"It isn't always necessary to have the very best players. I'd
rather have the right player come in and do the job.
"And I don't think about the money Chelsea have. I prefer to think
about what I can do with my team.
"Without money, you need imagination to look for players who will
be good enough."
How close they are now ?
