What are your thoughts on this? Agree?
"So
I know that some people are for it while some are against it. Well,
those who are against it, they are against the govt for wanting the
old folks to work until they die. This is what I heard. Correct me
if I'm wrong.
Those who are for it, they support the idea that old people remain
active in the aged years and rather them be occupied than to stay
at home and stare into the blank ceilings.
I heard from a healthcare practitioner that working helps to keep
the old active and is important to prevent Alzheimer/dementia. I
mean, sure, retiring and playing chess everyday seems like an
option but playing chess everyday will eventually be boring. Hence,
leading to stagnation. No progress. This will deteriorate overall
health.
Not a huge fan of MM Lee but his quote seems to make some sense.
"If you believe that at 55, you’re retiring, you’re going to read
books, play golf and drink wine, then I think you’re done
for."
I personally think that we should encourage the old to work, if
they want to. Take up simple tasks. Keep their mind active and
contribute in a meaningful way. They have so much experience and
it's a waste if the younger gen can't inherit their pot of
gold.
Some of you may ask if I want my parents to work when they are 67?
Seriously? I don't mind them doing part-time work or freelance
work. So long as they are healthy and enjoy what they do, why
not?
Saw this phrase from the article below - "Choose a job you love,
and you will never have to work a day in your life". Very true
indeed.
