Thoughts after the Chelsea game

We seem to have only one trick in mind during the second half.

- Hold up the ball at the right/left flank
- Wait for someone who can cross the ball a bit to drop by
- Get Crouch to position himself in the box
- Get the cross in and hope that the Chelski defenders screw up
- Rinse and repeat

We must have employed the same tactics more than 15 times in the second half.

I am now deeply concerned that this might be a reflection of Rafas vision of how 4-5-1 should be played.

If that is the case, we might as well drop 4-5-1 altogether because I dont think thats how the 4-5-1 formation should be employed at all.

Look at the wingers in Chelskis team. Duff and Robben are players who can cross well but usually its their creativity, their movement off the ball and dribbling skills that can win the game for them.

I will be truly worried if Rafa ended up signing some good crossers who are similar to Riise and Zenden (good work ethics but contribute precious little in terms of movement, taking players on and creativity). Simao doesnt look like the type of players that can dribble well either.

If that is the case, our version of 4-5-1 is destined for failure as we will end up being too predictable and one-dimensional.

You have observed the same set of players with two different mentality towards EPL and CL.

Liverpool team are more daring and aggressive during the CL match.

For the EPL match, the team dun seem to be able to pick up themselves to play.

They prefer to defend for EPL matches to save energy and save leg.

Ah Ben is still unable to overcome the EPL game due to his favouritism with his spanish players.

Cisse should be given more chance to play the lone striker role.

I dun think he is any worse than Drogba.

Certain players should be used as reserve for the EPL game: garcia, alonso, josemi, traore, crouch.

The mentallity is the same la .

UCL and EPL , they played the same .

The difference ...... the opposition is playing continental type of football , which suits L'pool more .

Liverpool have changed , they'd changed to be more continental in style .

No team from continent likes to play against English opposition like Bolton , Boro , those typical English Bulldogs team .

Poolman SG

Well , those wins against Juventus , AC Milan said it all .

We can beat AC and Juva , but funny enough , we can't beat Portsmouth , Bolton , Brimingham etc....

Got what i mean ?
