You didn't watch the match? I did. Well, the team is more like a
reserve team. Sofia played well. Their attack was very good. The
defence and midfield can't cope with them, especially in the 1st
half.
There's one thing to learn from the match. We really need Owen.
Cisse and Morientes were playing together in front. But these two
players are really pathetic, especially Morientes. Either he is too
good for the other players or he is pants. His passes usually don't
find a Red shirt. So probably the other players cannot read his
intentions and hence were not there to receive the ball. Looking at
this performance, I will stick to my statement, that is, I will be
very happy if he can score 10 goals this season.
Rafa keeps saying that if Morientes gets the services, he will
score. He has played in the last three matches and Liverpool has
only scored 1 goal, and that was from a free-kick. We have chances
to score at least a dozen goals in those games. If those chances
are not the services Morientes needs, then what is? An open gaping
goal?
When we sold Baros, we possibly sold a striker who would have
scored the most goals among the current crop of strikers. I cannot
believe that Cisse was top scorer in France for an average Auxerre
team, ahead of Drogba when he was at Monaco. How on earth did he
manage that? I will never know.
Forget about Dirk Kuyt. He may be the top scorer in Holland. But,
please, not another unproven striker in the Premiership. I don't
want another Cisse. Owen is a safer bet, even if he will cost 5
million more than Kuyt. I will be very disappointed if they did not
buy him.
