Aimar or Morientes?

www SG

if you are ah ben and only have enough transfer kitty for only of the following player, who would u choose?

as for me, aimar is definitely my top choice.

he has always been a menace when valencia plays liverpool, proved to be more offensive and threatening than a top striker except in the air (he is relatively short as a european player).

furthermore, he is young (25) while morientes is 28.

if i recall correctly, morientes didnt want to leave real madrid initially until he is so grounded. from all the news i read about him, he gives me an impression that he is a celebrity player where aimar is a more comitted and quality player.

Patrik SG

Aimar is also my first choice. But i wun mind both coming...
Mr. Green

frOst^~^nOva SG

both!!! Mr. Green but i would also prefer aimar

RSP SG

Aimar.

Mr. Green

of cos, if can, get BOTH lah. Laughing

Nelstar SG

None of the above.

Aimar or Morientes are not proven to be consistent goal scorers.

Seriously, Liverpool need Djibril Cisse more than ever.

Poolman SG

Tough one indeed ....

Aimar is the more reliable signing , can play both as Striker & midfield , and also filling the hole behind the strikers and midfielders .

Only negative point , Aimar doesn not possess Morientes' physical advantage , which it's what we need it more now .

Morientes is what we need now , not Aimar , but in long terms , Aimar seem to be the ideal option .

I don't la , both I also want ! Laughing

RSP SG

Cisse proven scorer?? Rolling Eyes

Nelstar SG

At least goal-rate per season higher than the mentioned strikers.

26 goals in 38 league matches for french league.

RSP SG

French League.... Rolling Eyes

Morientes was a consistent goal scorer in the Champions League. And even when he was limited to a substitues role in Madrid, he bagged in the goals.

Aimar, yes, he doesn't score many. But the number of goals he'll create for his team mates is as good as scoring the goals himself.

Nelstar SG

Morientes goal/match rate is below 0.5 (tt's why Madrid prefer Owen to him)

given an option, I'll always choose Aimar over Morientes.

Aimar is more a playmaker than striker. As for liverpool, stick with Neil Mellor and sinama might be more worth it than any big name transfer.

RSP SG

that is NOT WHY Madrid prefers Owen.

Its just not how Madrid choose their strikers. If they had gone with goal ratios for their selection of strikers, they will have dropped Raul.

Madrid prefers Owen because of the same reason they bought Beckham.

Nelstar SG

Raul is their talisman.

Cannot be drop.

Raul=Real

RSP SG

Im glad u realise that.

Goal scoring ratio does'nt matter in the selection of their strikers in Madrid.

Poolman SG

If Morientes plays regularly for Real , his goal per match ratio should be higher .

That's why Ah Ben put Mori as priority infront of Anelka .

Nelstar SG

Ronaldo n Owen would be my first choice for RM.

Poster Boys Beckham and Raul will be relegated to the bench.

RSP SG

exactly. Very Happy

but Benitez won't be held ransom. 7 million for a 28 yr old, cup tied this season is too much.

Nelstar SG

Anelka, Morientes are definitely not worth it. Aimar might not be suited for EPL...

Liverpool should get Andy Johnson. Cheap n Good.

As for Spurs' JERMAINE DEFOE.

CHELSEA, go and die. DEFOE not for sale!

Twisted Evil

Goondu74 SG

Why cant they just buy Anelka? Proven, played for Liverpool, wants to play for a big club, can still play in the Champions league, younger, only problem could be his attitude.

My new year wish list,

Niemi from Soton,

King from Spurs,

Aimar fom Valencia,

Anelka from Man C! (Morientes or Defoe also can lah)

sillyme SG

I'd go for Morientes. Even if we can create goals, we need to finish them off. I think Morientes is better in that aspect.

Anelka could disrupt team harmony.

RSP SG

cos there are other alternatives? possibly better ones? Laughing

Anelka is good lah.He loves LFC. The KOP likes him. but.....he is so similar to Cisse. Confused
