Match review:

I think Liverpool were very lucky tonight. They need to keep working on their finishing. The liverpool forwards need too many chances to score a goal. Baros and Garcia in particular.

Defensively, Josemi was again a nightmare. I really don't understand why he has'nt been dropped.(Apart from the fact that he's spanish.Really hope its not the case though.) He was exposed way too many times at the back.SURE,Kolkka scored a beauty but the space he had to unleash the shot was unacceptable. Likewise, the 2nd equaliser was a result of Josemi's poor sense of positioning at the back.

We all know how important Milan Baros is now to the Liverpool team. I Like his work rate and his positive attitude. Though he needs to work on his awareness and finishing. Yeah, he scored a hattrick BUT 2 were from the spot. He could have at least 5 or 6 tonight had he been more clinical.

Good points to note is that Kewell is showing signs of improvement. He's making better decisions and penetrative runs on the flanks.

Why have'nt we seen Biscan in for Hamann? Croat deserves a chance in midfield alongside Alonso. Hamann's performance was very ordinary tonight.

Lucky result at the end of the day.Still lotsa work need to be done.

Koday moment... Laughing

Is it the first time?

Poolman SG

Furthermore , you all got aware , everytime a player ran past Josemi , what Josemi did straight-away is to surrender ! ( put up his hand for off-side ! )

Really kan-ni-na frustrated at him !

Patrik SG

Err..no..not the first time...but not everytime chun la..hahaha..
Too bad neber go and buy..haha

RSP SG

yah. And even if he gets close to the defender, he does'nt try to tackle the ball.Instead, he pushes the defender and commits the foul. His lack of pace makes him look more clumsy.

Its only Palace tonight. Can't imagine what will happen when Josemi is up against the likes of Reyes,Henry,Duff or Robben. Confused

EricDraven SG

Why get a defender from Spain in the first place?

Is Spain or England more well-known for defense?

So far, I would say only Alonso lived up to his price tag...
Josemi... I hope I never see him in a red jersey again...
Garcia... Have to learn how to convert chances and hold the ball well...

For the other players:
Kewell... Showed some potential down the flanks, might be better as left-mid than striker...
Hamman... waiting for Gerrard to be back...

Let's pray Finnan is right-back for next game...

Poolman SG

I think what Benitez trying to do , is to do a Carbone in Liverpool . This Valencia Carbone is a damn good right back , tough tackling , and run deep too , and crosses well .......but this Josemi ????? Run can la , slow a bit ...tough tackling , yes and no , yes to sure commit foul , no as sure got red card anyhow tackle ..... cross , yes la , but cross into wrong channel..... Mr. Green

Hope Benitz openly criticise Josemi as in he criticise Kewell .

Baros - Although Baros was the saviour for last night, his performance were too individualistic and gunning for personal glory. There are a few cases where better chances can be created if he passed the ball to Riise. But, being a striker, you have to be selfish at times.

Garcia - Need to go for target practice. Have not fulfil his role as a playmaker in connecting the passes.

Kewell - Should be dropped as he is all around the places at the wrong time. Cannot hold ball, got some tackle-phobia. He will still get his first team as he is ah ben's favourite boy.

Finnan - Was very impressive in holding up the right wing and stringing passes into the 6-yard box.

Alonso - Was excellent in springing passes but need a harder man to hold up the ball, some one like Biscan or Gerrard.

Taore - Another hard working Liverpool player, but tend to wander too much up front. Maybe it is ah ben's tactics.

Josemi - Consistent under-performer for the past five matches. He is the weakest link and tend to make mistakes in tackling and calling offside. Myabe he should play more reserves game to gain the momentum of the English game.

The good thing about the past few matches is that Liverpool is creaitng more chances at the six yard box but they still need some one station there and be alert enough to score.

Liverpool's defence is not as solid as it used to be Sad

giving free header for the second goal... sigh...

Again, we are missing chances!!!

Luck is on our side... but I don't like Liverpool to depend on luck... COME ON REDS!! I know you guys are better.

Redz SG

Lucky win?! Maybe, but we deserved it! Very Happy

We dominated the match, they probably had 2 shots on target. Good work rate and we battled till the end! Baros demonstrated his importance to us...how badly was he missed last wk!?

Kewell has his best game this season...w/out him, we may not hv the last 2 goals. But of course, he still needs to contribute more. Defense is still the same story...it's quite clear teams hv spotted our weakness on the rite! Why is Beni still so stubbord Sad

Good win nevertheless...next is Boro away, when we welcome our captain back! Very Happy

Poolman SG

Baros - Needs to polish his heading skills ! Laughing

Garcia - Needs to release the ball faster and more lethal !

Kewell - Needs counselling , something is missing from his inside .

Finnan - Should be our ideal right back currently , in place of the currently off-form Josemi .

Alonso - I'm happy with his contribution so far . Needs to be more lethal in those dead balls !

Taore - He don't cross well .

Josemi - What to say , everyone thinks he's currenly our weakest link .

Poolman SG

Lucky .... in a sense , not all referees give two penalties in a game , even though it's a clear penalty sometimes .

I'm happy the referee is nice to us , 'cos we needed the three points more than Palace one point !

No doubt we deserve the three points base on our overall performance , our party were nearly ruined by some zombies in the defense !

Poolman SG

Let's hope Benitez do a Video Review to the players on Monday morning , and show Josemi what his mistakes he had done for the two goals conceded !

Josemi deserved to be dropped! His performances for the past few games were way way below par. It’s time for finnan to come in for him. But seriously the only reason i see why Benitez is still playing him is beacuse of pride. Josemi is one of Benitez’s buy and he doesn’t want to admit he has signed a flop, tt’s why he keeps playing him.

Medicated Oil SG

Every manager is the same.

GH like to stick to Mickey and Hesky.

Ah Ben also have his favourite pet - Alonso, Garcia, Josemi and Kewell.

Can see the close-up sad face of Riise being substituted.

Riise was constantly in the right position with no men marking him.

I hope Ah Ben can see this bonus point for Liverpool to bang in more goals.

Liverpool is still not fully utilising its winger to draw out the defenders.

That is why they unable to score through the direct path.

They have not yet settled down to a team.
