Andrew Johnson for Liverpool ?

last SG · 2004-11-08T23:01:03+00:00

Salary might be one of the factor not signing him , the other factor i thought is Anelka's attitude and commitment and overall assessment of his contribution...

Poolman SG

Iain Dowie had hinted he doesn't mind releasing Andrew Johnson to Liverpool if LFC make a bid for him .

Andrew Johnson ?

Is that a good idea ?

Andrew Johnson replacing Cisse .......

Palace boss won't block Johnson move to Liverpool
tribalfootball.com - November 5, 2004

Crystal Palace boss Iain Dowie admits he wouldn't stand in striker Andrew Johnson's way if Liverpool came knocking.

"I am not in the business of limiting people's career's," the Eagles chief told The Evening Standard.

"If Liverpool come knocking it is a huge problem, but my relationship with Andrew is very good and if we are to develop this club we have to keep people like him here . "

wtf... Confused

RSP SG

NOT a good idea.

Yes, Andrew Johnson is in form now. But he is NOT a proven goal getter over a long course of the season. He's not a proven scorer on the european stage as well. So I think its a BAD idea to get Andrew Johnson replace Djibril Cisse. Only until Andrew Johnson proves himself over a course of a season then shd LFC make a move for him.

We need a proven striker.Someone who can perform at the highest level. Not promising talents. We already have that in the likes of Mellor and Pongolle and even on loan Le Tallec.

frOst^~^nOva SG

Pls sign Morientes. We need someone who can perform at the european stage and i think andy johnson wouldn't be a good choice. Confused

RSP SG

Drawback abt Morientes is that he won't be eligible for UCL.

But it will still be a gd buy because Morientes is quality and He will be useful in the EPL and domestic challenges.

Medicated Oil SG

Dun think Morientes want a League cup medal or FA Cup medal.

Now, the coach is rotating the strikers around for Real Madrid.

So far, he have not make any news or noise.

I assume he would stay at RM to fight for a CL medal.

I think mista would be the most propable guy that Ah Ben is getting.

Would need to consider a right back and centerback.

Too dependent on Hyypia, need a spare man.

RSP SG

LOL.

Your analysis really cracks me up. Laughing

Yeah. BUT He WANTS first team football. Wink

Yeah, and morientes is the FOURTH choice. In the rotation, he plays like 10 mins every game. Laughing

Ahem. Are we on the same planet?Morientes has clearly voiced out his unhappiness at being 4th choice behind Ronaldo, Raul,Owen.

He already has a CL medal in his trophey cabinet, plus several Spanish League titles as well. From I call it, all he wants now is first team football.

Im not saying he will prefer LFC, But it will be interesting to note that LFC can offer Morientes 1st team action. Very Happy

can we tempt ayala to come liverpool? he'll definitely be a big boost to liverpool's defence. Laughing

RSP SG

Carragher and Hyppia doing a good job.

Don't think Ayala wants to warm the bench. Laughing

kops21 SG

2 be fair to Carragher and Hyppia, there are doing a decent job at this moment. But i do not see them as the rock of Liverpool defence in the future.

Carragher is hardworking, but he lack the talents to be a GOOD central back. Hyppia is good, he seems to be going down the hill IMHO. We do need a GOOD central back at this moment. In fact, we need a total of 3 good central defenders to keep everyone on their toe and rotation. Cool

RSP SG

You forgot abt Henchoz? He's good wat. But not getting a game.

The central pairing is perhaps the last area you wanna rotate in a squad.

Carragher is a good. And he's dedicated.Always gives 200%. I say let him have a run at centre back for a season or too.He will blossom into a better defender.

Poolman SG

Unlike Valencia's Carbone , Ayala , Marchena ..... Hyypia and Carragher is good , but they lack that little bit of FLAIR .

I like the 80's Liverpool most because they all got flair , style .... the current Pool needs a bit of flair .

We'll see , in three years time , Liverpool will be the English Valencia ! Laughing

Central Defence should be the ROCK of the team which the team built their foundation.

3 years for English Valencia Shocked If the manager last that long.. Rolling Eyes

After the Birmingham match, I say let's sign him! At least he can score against Birmingham...

Tonight's a nightmare... Evil or Very Mad

Poolman SG

Hey guys , Andrew Johnson is not a bad idea afterall ..... Crystal Palace 1 - Arsenal 1 said it all !

Against Arsenal he posed a constant threat to the Gunners , his run is good , his run never gets off-side so often ....... maybe at 24 , he might be the man for L'Pool !

With UEFA posing a new rule to the European Union on foreign players limit soon , he might be a sound investment !

Poolman SG

Benitez got 5 years contract leh !

Hope both LFC and Benitez honour this contract .

Hope L'pool give Benitez sometime to built up the team ...

And hope Benitez can improve the team day by day , and avoid the 8-king sack !

EricDraven SG

Let’s get him in January, provided he’s not too expensive…

Goondu74 SG

Are there any other strikers available? From the looks of it, Mista already renewed his contract, means he won’t come cheap. Morientes will almost likely cost a bomb. Baring in mind we made a financial loss for the past year, i dun see where the money is coming from. We had to sell owen to finance alonso and garcia, that means if we dun sell first we dun buy. Hopefully investors will come in in time.

Poolman SG

Although in the RED this year , Rick Parry had emphasis if there is a need for new player , Liverpool will not hesistate to spend .

He will get in a new striker , a proven one , 'cos we're running out of time !
