Hi all,

I intend to join the SPF/CNB in 3-4 years time, but I'm not sure which degree should I take that is helpful in terms of aiding law enforcement agencies. My poly GPA is only 3.1 so I guess my best pick would be UniSIM itself.

What's the psychometric test about? Is it difficult?

Please advise.

Kirayamato100: I would suggest the degree course in SIM on Bsc management and security studies. Maybe you can take a look at it, it will be useful if you choose to join spf in future.

psychometric test is just numerous questions posted to you to answer. More like testing your psychological aspects. Not to worry so much. Just have enough rest before you go for it.

Kirayamoto: I’ll recommend you do something you like. It will be a pain if you are taking a degree that is of no interest to you. Also choose a degree that offers honours(some degrees does not offer honours). Ultimately ur salary/rank is peg to ur honours, if you are not worried about ur salary then you don’t need to worry about honours. Finally, just make a list of schools u wanna go, check w SPF whether they recognise or not, before you make a choice.

As of psychometric test, there is no way you can prepare for it except having suffice rest the day before.

Kirayamato100: I think its not wise to take the Bsc management and security studies for your first degree. In the govt sector, only the SPF will recognise it and it will otherwise be useless outside of SPF. Not a good choice if you realise that SPF is not your choice employer after a few years down the road. Also, they are not particular about what you do for your degree and Chomeisen is right that the honours actually matters more.

Thanks a lot, that was really helpful advice. By the way, I've verified that the security studies minor are only open up to those in security-related industries coming next year.

Is the psychometric test similar to the one taken prior to enlistment @ CMPB?

I got a phobia towards such tests as I have went for the COMPASS test conducted by RSAF. It was excruciating.

Hey all, I went for board interview on 21st sep, dialogue session on 24th aug, and assessment on 8th aug, anyone has a common date with me? I received my medical results few weeks ago, and just last Wednesday I received a call from them. He asked me about what is my notice period I have to give to my current employer. I wonder anyone here is in the same situation as me? And if anyone actually knows when is the next intake?:)

the last i heard is that the next intake is in the first week of december.

Chev,u mean all your interviews date are the same as mine too?so I guess we should have met each other before?haha.if is first week of dec then I guess we won't be in already. Since next mon is the start of first week of dec already

Fret not, i guess the intake dates are not really fixed. Although it was said in this thread that the next intake date was December, there was one recently. Like what my friend tells me, if you've passed through the medical, the next hardest stage is waiting. hope to see you soon in HTA!

ShawnTeo: did u state ur notice period before ur medical? Or they called u again to double confirm ur notice period?

Chev: How did u receive ur medical results via? U mean they called u up and told u that u have passed the medical ah? Cuz for me, they simply said pending management approval.

Chev, the recent intake was 26nov. Yes man,see u soon in HTA. But I wonder if there's anyone being rejected even after medical report states fit for employment. I don't mind waiting, I'm just worried it is not confirm. Because I feel like quitting my current job and take a rest.haha

chris, I stated during my panel and hr interview, but they still called me up,and even ask me if I'm still studying or working. Obviously I have graduated. Anyway my medical report is letter mailed to me. And I email to ask on my status he just told me that they will call us up once our application is approved. Never even mention anything about pending management approval.
