Forensic / Criminal Psychologist

HelloSingaporean SG

Well, I'm currently a sec 4 express student taking o'level this year. I'm inspired to be a forensic psychologist in the future. So can anyone give me some advice.

1) Where should i go? - JC OR Polytechnic[taking course in Psychology]

2) I know that forensic / criminal psychologist market in Singapore is small, but where do I see the requirement needed to apply as a criminal / forensic psychologist in singapore police force.

Please advice me :) Thank you

you're not referring to forensic pathologist right?

For forensic pathologist, you'll require a few more years of study after you've gotten m.b.b.s or M.D.

For forensic psychologist, you'll need a Phd in applied psychology which you'll have to study for it overseas.

Lastly, be in the Dean's list yearly during the entire period of your studies.

HelloSingaporean SG

Thank you for your comments , it helped me alot.

However, I would like to find out something from you guys. Anybody knows where in Singapore (for example, organizations or hospitals) would require forensic psychologist?

Would you recommend me to go JC or Polytechnic after my o'level?

I'm not sure if criminal/forensic psychologist are the same, but I think they are different. Their area of work may be similar, but they look at it from different perspective.

You can find out more on the job description in SPF site - http://www.spf.gov.sg/beextraordinary/

Go to a JC after your O levels.

After that, go into the branch you prefer.

After you've finished medical school with a basic degree, very seldom will you have the heart to pursue into fields like forensics.
