Hi all, my friend was caught for shoplifting in singapore expo
roughly abt 2 months ago. She stole a few makeups and some
lingeries which cost abt 200 dollars in total.
She got arrested and got locked up in Bedok HQ that very night.
She admitted everything of her mistake and the IO release her on
bail. She was told to report back to the HQ 2 weeks after the
offence,which she did. She gave her I.O the security bond and her
I.O gave a stern warning in regards of the offence. No promises
given but her I.O did highlighted that most prolly she will be
given a warning or fine and she got to remain contactable.Whether
she will be charged in court or not, is still unsure.
Barely about a month later, Bedok HQ called her up again to ask
her to report to the station and see a different officer. Only when
she was told that she got charged, and will have to turn up in
court. She had to turn up in Court 23,charged under section 379 cap
224.
I am just curious, will she be just be fined or will she be
sentenced because its her first offence and she was totally
remorseful over it. She pleaded to the officer that she will not do
the mistake again and the officer told her that they already
requested for a charge reduction.
So if she turn up in court, will she be sentenced or
will given a stern warning and just fine? This is her first offence
and she had a clean record. And eversince, she had not done any
other offences that broke the law.
