Punishment for Section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter
224, is as follows:
Theft in dwelling-house, etc.
380. Whoever commits theft in any building, tent or
vessel, which building, tent or vessel is used as a human dwelling,
or for the custody of property, shall be punished with imprisonment
for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to
fine.

However, with your friend being a first-time offender and all,
the punishment might not be the maximum punishment lah. This will
depend entirely on the judge.
