Is there such a rule?

A officer age retired on 01 Dec 2007.

He is to be presented for 30 years medal on 25 Jan 2008.

Because he is retired, that division officers must exclude him from his medal receiving ceremony?

That doesn't make much sense to me.

By the way, a number of retired police officers are retained in the force as civilian staff on a contract or daily-rated basis.

Here's this one, I am not sure true or not.

The 30 year medal, it does not have the officer's name engraved on it right?

So anyone can take it home?

It was gossipped that the officer who doe not want the retired officer to attend the ceremony, so that he can go up on 'behalf' of the retired officer and take the medal as his own. It was mentioned in the gossip that it happed before.
