Dot Dot haha i just curious about this unit because not many people knew about it

qazplm SG

Its open to all regular officer whom have to be in the force when the positions for STAR team selection....

cheers.

MLM WINNER SG

The application is open to all SPF personnels, but if u are NSF u'll need to sign on if u are being selected

pwnz0r SG

In ‘91, the hijack attempt was countered by SOF right, not STAR.

VMIAsianInvasion SG

How long do you have to sign on for if you try out as an NSman and you are selected as STAR?

After that, still got commitment or bond?

mhcampboy SG

yes its by SOF cause the hijackers are making political demands. if its a petty thief trying to escape singapore by hijacking a plane...then STAR will come in.

mhcampboy SG

i simply love their star assault vehicle. its sooo cool to see them in convoy on the road. my camp is at mandai...and always see them and the vehicles drove past my camp. its way cooooool... Mr. Green

Archtomato SG

True .. they are elite among law enforcement only.
Jurisdiction plays apart on why they are not considered special forces.
Star can storm anywhere in Singapore only. Troops cannot be deployed on international land .. like airport runways ... and railways tracks ...

singaporesodapop SG

Whatever...STAR, SOF, NDU...the guys in there are all hot, if you ask me. I guess I'm one of those weird girls who are into military and/or special ops kind of guys.

Ain't nothing hotter than a man in uniform. Woot!!! Wink

SuperMilk SG

I think what Pitot had said basically sums it up. Please do not compare SOF and STAR. Both are elite forces. Both commands respect. As for the question of not seeing them in action, i rather NOT see them in action all. Coz that will mean something really bad is happening. And please, STAR is not 3-legged cat. If it is so, then any tom, dick or harry can get into it.

kcetha SG

Pls lor. The hijack is in '91 and STAR only formed in '93. Can't compare as they perform different roles.

Come across a "Special Ops Report" magazine and that showcase the special forces of the world and they have one issue that features STAR Unit. See the link below. If i am not wrong, this is the 1st Special Force Unit from Singapore to be feature in it. Even SOF is not in it. Their reputation is far beyond Singapore.

Who is comparing? Rolling Eyes

Arena SG

The Gurkhas really live up to their name...
So which unit caught the last robber?
Think if i nvr remembered wrongly it is by the STS from PCG...

Are the SOF sent there? STAR sent there?
Anybody heard of the STS (SPecial Task Squandron), they are under PCG.
So can any SPF members share whether the STS are under the STAR or the Special Operations Command? Or a unit by itself of PCG?

Btw not to say which unit good or bad... SOF selection is 3 weeks long, STAR selection is 1 week. Is 1 week enough to select elites among so many applicants?
Should STAR lengthen its selection phase longer?
Lastly, the STS is very much not heard by many and info abt them are scarce and even non-existant.... I came across one of their poster and one of the selection requirement is Silver for IPPT...

Hellraiza SG

the STAR logo is enough to make me think of joining up….

StRiKeMaN SG

STS, woah. Their Training how?? Siong?

Deunamist SG

STS is under command of PCG. STS personnel train with STAR personnel on certain occasions but they are ultimately trained for marine assault.

Båseline SG

Look, do you think SAF allows detailed report of any sort in one of our most elite force, the SOF? Wink

Pitot SG

You cant compare apples to oranges la.

Both trained to operate in different theatres.. compare what?

wwwQ SG

STAR uniform more cool.

lexibabe SG

Very Happy i would love to meet one, they are cool!

lexibabe SG
