ASP rank is a single coat of arms, which is the same as military
Major.
the Junior Commissioned officer ranks in the military use bars. by
right, the equivalent for Inspector should be Lieutenant in the
military, because both bear two bars/pips. but since the Police
Force does not have 1 pip (Cadet Insp, NPCC) or 3 pip (Chief Insp,
Gurkha only), the equivalent for all Junior Commissioned Officer
ranks in the army in the police is Inspector of Police.
