I've applied for the Management Support Officer which only requires a diploma. However I'm a degree holder.

Anyone has any idea if SPF will take in a degree holder for Management Support Officer posts?

Here is what i got from my collegue... If you have a recogonised degree you can apply as a HASE officer why take up a MSO post which pays you so little... Anyway if you though of converting from MSO to HASE its not as easy as being a PO --> SO. As civilian is mostly staff work your work is not as recoginised as a Police Officer. So think twice before you apply as an MSO. An MSO has different grades 1 - 5, Hase if i am not work 1 -11. But so far no one hit 1 for HASE. Anyway good luck dude... =) Any more things you need to clarifiy i will be away for the next few days tho! =) Take care!

Haven't seen SPF/MHA opening up post for HASE for quite sometime already. Since I saw the advertisement last Sat on newspaper, just try to apply to see how lor.

Anyway thanks for the warning. Will keep that in mind if I get called up for interview.

MSO and TSO are usually people with Diplomas. If you dont mind "downgrading and getting lesser" pay, you can consider accepting the post. As for degree holder, MX will be the term they used or its known as HASE officer too.... Mr. Green

i believe MSO deals with general admin duties.
Why dont you look for one which is related to your course of study?

Yeap, I want to join SPF or MHA but as non-uniform staff.

On the contrary, MSO and HASE both are deployed into Personnel, Finance, Corporate Services and Information Support.

So if I get an interview, I'll surely ask to join a dept that is related to my course of study.

I'm not too sure if they will be willing to accept people who don't mind "downgrading". It's like spoiling the market?

I remember asking a recruitment officer if a degree holder can sign on as a Police Officer instead as a Senior Police Officer. Her explianation wasn't very clear saying that the structure can't allow such a thing. She ended off with something like " Don't spoil market" kind of thing.

So I'm not sure about HASE. But do keep us informed. Smile

i think from MSO, you can be upgraded oOR promoted to be analysts.
i'm not too sure though. but i do have a cousin who started as an MSO...

They actually dont, cause its a standard set by the govt. Unless you dont declare you are a degree holder? Mr. Green

yeah i think it's a rule set by the govt.... cos i have a fren.... she's working as a temp somewhere.... her head of dept told her they have a post of CSO but they can't hire her cos they only take people with highest qualification 'O' Levels and she with a diploma is not "qualified"... she only can go apply for the next level.... that's a MSO...

Thanks for the info. Looks like I won't be able to join SPF as a MSO.

However, I've observed they haven't been advertising for HASE in the newspapers for a very long time.

In Mar this year, I went to the Career Fair and SPF/MHA was "collecting resumes" for HASE. There is no opening at all.

Why don't you just submit an application for HASE scheme? No doubt that there's no opening but you just try ? No harm in sending? At least you have some chance there as compared to not sending and only apply for MSO?
