police working at NPP and NPCs should be working in shifts right?

like to find out the following from our men in blue here:

1. what are your working hours like, and what is the ratio between off-hours and working hours?

2. how is your leave application done, since it has to take into account the off-hours / days that you are entitled to. are there any difference in leave calculation when you apply for an extended (say, more than 14 or 21 days) period of leave?

3. what are the leave policies for going overseas?

Ans 1: working hours.. standard working hours is 8-8, night and day.. so you work 12 hours morning then 24 hours off. then 12 hours night and then 2 days off before you start your shift in the morning again. This is for regular duties minus extra duties... then different NPC will have +-1 hour for breifing and de-briefing.. or depends if you have alot of work and have to work extra hours

Ans 2: hmmm... for leave is one shift is 1.5 days and one tour is 3 days.. if you take one tour off you actually earn 6 days leave so if you take 2 tours off which is 6 days leave you get 12 days...so if you need a long holiday take a 9 days vacation leave... you will get 18 days off...leave application now is done thru a computer system which i think is quite sucky...

Ans 3: PNS or those never complete MTE must apply for an exit permit and put up a leaving state form... If complete MTE already then infd your TL about it and give him a leaving state form then you can go overseas already.

Er…the shift (usually) starts at 7am for the day shift. The 12 hour thingy is called a “Shift.” The next 12 hour shift for the night, combined with the day shift for a total of 24 hours is called a “Tour.”

once a month will have menses called In-Service....if u sway one month comes twice.... Mad

yes and it is on a off day too.. so hope in service falls on a public holiday.. hahaha

yes..it is 12 hours am and 12 hours pm.. then you get the next 2 days off..

leave if you start at 1 Jan (AM) till 4 th Jan is actually 3 days of leave.. as one shift is considered 1.5 days of leave like i had explained.. cause you are also off on the 30th decemeber - 4th Jan.. which is 6 days... so if you take a long leave from the 1st - 28th which is 7 tours is 21 days of leave... it is good if you have alot of stored leave and wish to clear it...take a one month vacation..

now only need TL approval.. CO approval is only for EDO.. but most of the time is signed by SA to CO anyway

oic.. the crux is that for shift workers, one shift (8 am - 8 pm OR 8 pm to 8 am) translates into 1.5 days of leave; one tour (8 am - 8 am) translates into 3 days of leave. and this is regardless of the leave duration. so shift workers do not actually gain any advantage over those who work normal working hours (8 - 5.30). am i rite?

SACO is SC/Cpl or SC/Sgt.....got so much power huh.....by right is TL recommend and CO/OO approve one. SACO monitor the leave status internally cos sometimes record at leave clerk and outside buay tally one....

That one you need to calculate yourself... i know that shift workers work 48 hours a week... compare to 45 hours for office hours staff... for office hours staff one day is normal one day...so for them to have a 6 days leave... they need to take 4 days of leave compare to 3 days for shift workers... but shift workers would have work extra 144 hours a year.... which is 6 days... which if you translate into normal hours.. maybe shift workers get 6 days extra of off over office hours staff...but it is more or less compensation for your odd working hours...

8 hr shifts...so its like orhwice hours but more flexible, one starts in morning, one afternoon and one night.
