Haha.....its not exactly a contradiction lah. I would think it helps alot to understand things from both perspectives? Being willing to ask is one thing loh. Knowing why and what he might want to reveal, and then knowing what kind of questions to ask first before getting to the root of the issue might be a good strategy to take loh.

well all i can say is that, just ask... and understand, learn more about what he's doing... or just notice the pattern of the work hours...

i work shifts, i'm not in SPF btw. and i won't know my timing until the day before. But there is a certain timing... i won't say mine is that complicated to understand, but i do tell my gf what time i start daily... what time i finish i can't confirm also. I am also recallable too.

sometimes during work i can't pick up the phone either, i put it to silent and i check it end of work...

well i guess its up to ur bf whether he wants to let u know more or not.

Hmm...personally I would consider two things. OSA (plus PGO, PPPO, and all that kind of stuff), and the person I am talking to in the first place loh (as in, in terms of trust, how receptive he/she is to the information given, and what he wants to know it for, etc). Obviously there is no hard and fast rule as to where the line is drawn, and whether one actually wishes to stick more to one or the other of the above two factors is a matter of personal integrity and accountability with regards to his profession, yet knowing that he has to reassure his loved ones and manage his private life at the same time?

It is as much a struggle for the officer as it is for his/her loved ones, obviously.

cant help but reply to this topic...after reading much, i guess dat joyce, u r selfish lor...

1st: u SHOULD trust ur bf...if u dun trust him, i dun tink dere's any point being together lor...

2nd: being a police officer or PCG or wadeva job in SPF, dun tink the fella can tell u much abt his job...cos its all confidential....

3rd: he's oready been working like so long hrs, tink if u were him, i dun tink u wanna tok abt ur job-of-the-day...i tink he wld wanna spend a peaceful day wif u rather den keep telling u wad's gg on during work today...i mean, working hrs r over..im sure when u r out to work, u'll be the same lor...after working hrs is happy hrs...

4th: turning on the fone, den how's he gonna concentrate on his work? keep tokin to u n let the criminal run away den kena sack? u wanna see dat? dun tink so rite? wad if turnin on the HP n the radio cause smtng bad to the machines he's using? dun tink u wanna lose him IF u love him...

so my main pt here is, the real reason for u to start a topic regarding ur bf's job is dat u dun wanna noe abt his job...u only wanna noe abt his routine every work day so dat u noe when's his brk, when he can turn on his fone so u can call him...

and im sure even if u tink he's flirting wif his female colleagues while working... think again.....

juz trust him wif his work...n do note dat uniform jobs r now not metal ricebowl anymore...its more like toiletbowl now... (sorry folks~)
like wad some of dem said...diff divisions, diff sups...diff jobscope, gets diff timing of wadeva (brk time, knockoff time, start work time)

lastly, flame me if u wanna... but trust someone who been dere, done dat....

please learn to separate work from personal life.

and learn respect each other's jobs, do not distract one another with things like phonecalls.

I personally don't like calls coming through my phone during work. Firstly it would not leave a good impression on me, talking on the phone while on the job.

Secondly it is distracting and if i missed anything after putting down the phone, it might lead to disaster.

So you have to learn to get this basics into your head.

i wun like it if pple call me when i am working. tats the least respect u can give to ur partner. U cannot have him 365days a year, u cannot have him 24hrs a day too.

I only talk about anything stupid that happens, hahahaha... anyway that's besides the point.

eh, i think she should learn to respect his job... if she wants to know anything, just know the hours... it doesn't matter where his ship goes too, why he get recalled so many times, why he work funny shift hours. He's a coast guard, a mata, so u have to be prepared for all this.

Maybe the most she should do is just know the hours like, one shift lasts how long or when is his duty days... that's about it, the rest can't really be controlled.

The calling during work certainly must stop. Cool
