hmm..if you are talking about courses, then there is C course for senior officers and police basic course for regular officers.

If you are looking it from a NSF point of view, I guess it's slightly different in terns of oppoortunities if you comapare SAF and SPF. houndy has mention the 2 different courses .

However if you are NSF and you have been posted to SPF for your basic training, the highest you can attain within you NSF period is a SC/SGT( Mods/ regulars correct me if I'm wrong here ). You can't attain an INSP rank if you have been posted to police direclty, not with the current system. Unlike in SAF where you can go to OCS.

The "OCS" version for NSF in police is for people that have served BMT in SAF. They will be later posted to the police "OCS".

Any idea how he got it? And speaking of that, do you guys get promotions in your post ORD days like in the SAF?

Yes, post-ROD promotion is still available ... but not practical essentially. How often do you lead a troop other than your 2 weeks reservist? The promotion is more of a recognition to your contribution than actually stating that you have met the mark to lead.

Unless you are a regular, promotion means a total different thing.

It goes the same for SAF, it goes the same for SPF and SCDF.

Yeah... in fact many chose to siam promotion after they ORD. The higher your rank the more responsibilities.

To many NSmen ( formerly known as reservists), the word promotion is like a plague and try to avoid it? Smile Haha...

In fact some of my friends won't call it "promotion", at best is a "change of ranks" or "upgrading".. Haha Very Happy

Anyway, any idea where are the medical doctors located within the police force? The clinic in PA closed down already I heard. What ranks do these doctors hold?

Just curious.. I heard that those NS police inspectors invariably get posted to do some desk-bound admin kinda work, is that true? Or things like PA to the police commissioner?

Will they have a chance to go to those action units like SOC or CID or become an investigation officer?

We probably will get one if a SC/CPL gets a field promotion after managing to shoot a serial killer dead after the killer had exterminated the cpl's partner and had already sent a few more bullets thru the cpl's limps or something?

I believe that this has been discussed before? But anyway, yes you're right, cornyfish2000, that NSI get posted to admin work, although I don't think that CP 's PA is a NSI?

I have yet to hear of NSI getting posted to frontline units like SOC. Even if one does end up at SOC, well it will be for admin work too I believe. As for IO, nope his posting will not be as IO, however, I have heard cases of NSI joining in IO and his team for some operations due to lack of manpower.

hmmm... desk bound is for NSPI no matter where though.. even in SOC.. and CID dont take NSPI.. theirs is too specialise to even take in regulars.. hmm.. not to mention people who serve for only 2 years right..

hmm ok thanks! Seems abit of a waste for 9 mths of training to culminate in some admin job. Personally i'd once considered signing on with the police force and being in the thick of the action, ala Crimewatch.. Wink
