for your info, there is direct entry for departments like,
Police Coast Guard, Dog Unit, Commercial Affairs Department,
Central Narcotic Bureau... and more going for the direct entry
thing......
abt the difference for the 6 mth basic training at TRACOM(Training
Command) as compared to army, its diff to explain to u unless u
experience army life before....
basically regardless wat time the dae starts, it will end ard
5.30pm.. and after that will be dinner and OTOT(own time own
target) for most of the nights, u will be having every wed
off(which is known as lights off, where u book out ard 530-6 and
come back abt 9-1030pm the same dae), u will also be able to book
out on alternate fridays at abt 530-7pm till 9-1030pm on
Sun....
the training will mostly be split into two halfs, the morning and
the afternoon.... so its either u training(which includes arms
training, defence tactics, swimming etc) in the 1st half and
lessons(law, police procedures etc) in the other half or vice
versa....
so after 6mths training will depends on where u choose to go when u
are given a choice to opt during training(thou not guarantee)... so
wat happens after that regarding the shift work or working pattern
