Don't call 995
if you have a stomachache: SCDF
SINGAPORE - If you have a stomachache, constipation, diarrhoea
or a rash, do not dial "995", the Singapore Civil Defence Force
(SCDF) said.
"Emergency medical assistance is not required for symptoms such as
stomachache, toothache, constipation, diarrhoea, cough and skin
rash," it said in a Facebook post on Friday (June 9).
Of the 178,154 emergency medical service calls SCDF got last year,
11,154 or 6.3 per cent were for non-emergencies, and 7,644 or 4.3
per cent were false alarms.
The share of non-emergency calls made last year rose from 5.3
per cent in 2015 and 4.6 per cent in 2014.
SCDF on its Facebook page advised the public to see a doctor for
help or call 1777 for a non-emergency ambulance.
It wrote: "Have a great weekend ahead, take good care of your
health and remember, #995ForEmergenciesOnly."
